Helped me rent a Single Family home in Twentynine palms, CA.Local knowledgeProcess expertiseResponsivenessNegotiation skillsI would like to preface this review with the following. Would I recommend renting with Cameron? Yes, he is attentive to his renter’s concern and will work with you. However, I would advise inspecting any rental offered by Cameron before signing into ...Response from Cameron Wortman on 1/6/2025
Thank you for noting that, despite your initial challenges, you would still recommend renting from me. I do indeed strive to be diligent and attentive to my tenants’ needs, and to address problems as soon as I learn about them. When I followed up with you a couple of days after your move-in, you reported that everything was fine, so I wasn’t aware of any cleaning issues at that time. Including the yellow stains you’re identifying as from smokers. Nicotine comes with its own very distinct smell and since that is not present, I can only assume its from more cleaning and cooking mishap and not actual smokers. Clearly, we let you down, and I offer my sincere apologies. The situation was a bit of a “perfect storm”: the previous tenant left the property in a challenging condition, we only had a few hours to clean (instead of the usual couple of days), and we used an unvetted cleaner who missed the mark because our usual cleaner was out of town and I relied on pictures from said cleaner instead of a personal inspection. You did not deserve to walk into that, and I regret that I’m only finding out about the extent of the issues now. After reading your review, as a courtesy I’ve provided you compensation to address it and also put new protocols in place to ensure it doesn’t happen again. Regarding the furniture, I understand that “too much” or “too little” is a matter of personal perspective. As of now, there’s a couch, a coffee table, a desk, and a small side table in the living room. The couch, coffee table, and side table are only about two years old, and the desk—while slightly worn on the desktop—was left as a courtesy by a previous tenant. As for the shower stench, I had it fixed within two days of your initial report. When I texted you after the repair to let you know that I replaced the drain valve, I also mentioned I added a disc to act as a precautionary measure. The drain valve is definitely the main star though. A few days later when I followed up about the repair, you confirmed everything in the shower was working “perfectly.” Lastly, I was surprised to find you had disposed of all the plates, cups, bowls, glasses, utensils, silverware and even the silverware holder. I fully encourage the disposal of broken or chipped kitchenware, but it’s difficult for me to believe that every single item was damaged beyond use and the replacement cost necessarily came out of your deposit—though at a discounted amount because they were used after all. Again, I appreciate your feedback it helps me take measures to prevent similar situations for future tenants.
